Elevate Your Forensic Team to New Heights!

What makes a forensic leader?

What makes a forensic leader… From head to toe, forensic leaders have to be on their game at all times, but what are some of the critical qualities of a forensic leader? Here are our top 4 traits to make up a forensic leader.

Critical Thinker:

Always ready to think through a problem to get to a solution. Willing to look at different angles of a situation to get the best conclusion.

That doesn’t mean that they over-analyze or obsess over an idea. It simply means that in a pinch they can quickly come up with a solution that will save the day without hurting their team or the quality of work.

Communicates Effectively:

This is where we separate the great leaders from the bosses.

If you cannot adequately communicate, then you won’t be able to lift your team up. You also won’t be able to solve anything without bumps in the road.

The best leaders are approachable and make their team feel motivated when they walk away which is really hard to do if your team doesn’t receive the correct information. If your team is asking you about the eggs on a plate you don’t want to tell them all about why the sky is blue.

If you’re struggling with this, check out our taboo topic on closing the newbie-veteran age gap. It has tons of perspective on how different mindsets may be causing the disconnect in your communication.

Organized:

For a lot of us, this is the hard one. You can’t do it all so how are you supposed to have everything from your thoughts to your papers organized?

Start by focusing on your priorities.

I prioritize being able to communicate with my team and have what they need ready. Then I move on to what my higher-ups need. Then, what I need. My time is important but so is everyone else’s. I want them to walk away feeling prioritized and prepared.

Set your team up for success and you’ll be successful.

Overhaul your forensic training program

Always Moving Forward:

A boss will hold past mistakes against an employee. A leader will work on them with that employee so that it never happens again. If you’re always progressing then you’re opening so many doors, for not just you, but also your team.
