COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to prepare current and aspiring supervisors to lead Evidence Units effectively, professionally, and ethically. It focuses on leadership principles, operational management, legal responsibilities, quality assurance, personnel development, and interagency coordination. Participants will develop the skills needed to manage an Evidence Unit in order to maintain evidence integrity, packaging, and handling, as well as other aspects of Evidence Unit supervision.
Participants will develop the skills needed to manage bulk evidence, support investigative objectives, maintain evidence integrity, and build high-performing teams.
Students will learn how to:
- Ensure proper evidence handling and documentation standards
- Maintain quality control and compliance with legal requirements
- Communicate effectively with command staff, investigators, prosecutors, and media
- Develop and mentor team members
