Have you ever had a supervisor who assumed everything was good because no one was saying anything? How about the flip side? No one ever brought anything to your attention… therefore everything must be good… right?
Let’s start by analyzing both sides of the situation.
Supervisors have so much they have to deal with on the day to day they don’t have time to hold someone’s hand and ask them if they’re ok every 5 seconds. If there’s a problem, someone should bring it to their attention.
However, what if you only see your supervisor… once a week? How are you as a tech supposed to convey a macro problem passing in the hallway?
One of the major lessons that we teach in our forensic supervisor classes is HOW to talk to different types of people.
Sometimes conversations need to be thought out and approached in different ways. Perhaps your supervisor doesn’t like to waste time and you’re taking the time to come up with solutions to the problem before asking your supervisor for anything.
Based on those situations we’d say…. this is a big…
MYTH! 🦄
Just because someone hasn’t brought something up doesn’t mean everyone is happy. It’s your job as a supervisor to provide an approachable environment to address employee issues on a regular basis. It’s also your unit’s job to make sure that any grievances are being communicated accurately in a professional and thorough manner. T
These meetings aren’t supposed to be therapy sessions, but if someone needs time to say go to therapy then that needs to be addressed.

PSSTTT… It’s Social Media Free!
What makes the Gap Science Family online community truly special is that we understand the stigma social media platforms create throughout your forensic career. Many prefer to stay off platforms like Facebook or Instagram altogether, which is why we’ve created a dedicated space where you can feel safe to interact and network with like-minded individuals, without the hassle of social media.
How does it work? It’s free to join, but we have opted to make it a private space where all members must be approved by our admin so we can do our best to keep out the robots and spam.
Most of the spaces within the community are free to access, including forums where you can swap files, post job openings, advertise your forensic merch, announce upcoming training, and even share your wins! In the future, you may also see private spaces designated for students in our paid courses.
