Are you looking for a way to SIMPLIFY how your Evidence Unit purges and destroys items…

…without having to be fearful of destroying items that you should have been kept

…without wondering what to do or where to send items for destruction

…and without putting the sole responsibility of the decision-making on the Evidence Unit?

And, that allows your unit to work toward a 1:1 ratio of evidence coming in and evidence going out!

I’m here to tell you:

IT’S POSSIBLE!

You just need a plan!

Listen, I know you may have doubts – especially if you’ve never been responsible for this before!

I had those same thoughts myself. As a matter of fact, I didn’t have a background in Evidence OR Property Units when I became supervisor so this task was daunting to say the least!

Within 2 years as supervisor over the Evidence Unit, I was able to successfully revamp our property and evidence practices. But had I been armed with better information and resources ahead of time, this could have been a much easier process.

With proper strategies in place...

We were able to create more space in an
otherwise overflowing evidence and property room!

These strategies include:

  • Understanding Statute of Limitations for your state
  • Knowing where to find the prosecution status of each case
  • Differentiating between what type of items you have
  • Creating forms for case reviews and destruction approval
  • ...and more!

I provide you with all the details AND additional resources!

“I appreciated the recommended forms and case review system. It was great and the instructor was so nice.”

Evidence Destruction 101

Build Confidence with the Evidence Purging Process Using Our Systematic Approach

Hi! I'm Jen Helms, CCSA, Former Forensic Supervisor, Training Instructor

In 2018, I transitioned to a newly created position as was the first Forensic Supervisor at a local police department in Kissimmee, Florida.

Without prior experience in property and evidence, it was a challenge to learn how to appropriately manage 90,000 items. I soon came to the realization that the operations set in place were antiquated, so I created and implemented new policies and procedures.

I know there is a need for specialized, affordable training for forensic professionals, especially those within the confines of property and evidence. And I want continue helping others so they don’t have to experience the same struggles as I endured.

Evidence Destruction 101 is a self-paced eCourse that provides a systematic approach to take you from feeling lost and overwhelmed…

To …

✔ Knowing WHO can authorize destruction of evidence

✔ Understanding WHAT items you have (Evidence vs. Found Property vs. Safekeeping)

✔ Determining WHERE destroyed items can go

✔ Identifying WHEN items may be destroyed

✔ And developing a plan for HOW your unit is going to implement new procedures

Here's a look at the Course Curriculum:

“Very much satisfied. I signed up as a refresher and was not disappointed.”
